| I hated my pizza stone, I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond. It made the kitchen smell like burning chemicals. I bought a pizza STEEL, which I love!!! It is more expensive, but so worth it if you make alot of pizza!! |

I have had a couple of pizza stones that all died eventually. They crack when the some of the liquid/sauce drips from the pizza. So now, I have tried a couple of alternatives that work pretty well:
1) buy a large glazed floor tile. The last one I got from home depot was about 2 dollars for an 18x18 square. or 2) get some bricks and layer them on a a cookie sheet, and heat the oven hot. Put the pizza on another cookie sheet that place it directly on top of the bricks. This was worked really well for me, but you need pretty good bakeware. |

we have the pampered chef one.
But I have heard good things about simply using a floor tile. Do some research on what kind of tile and how to avoid lead or other undesirable materials though. |

I bought a cast iron pizza pan. You can heat it up in the oven or on the stove top and then put your dough on it, just like a stone. Costs less, works great, and can also be used as a griddle. And made in USA!
