Will Obama pay full tuition at Sidwell?

Anonymous
The press has been making a big deal about Sidwell being an expensive private school. But does he pay this amount out of his salary or is it paid as some sort of Presidential benefit? Just curious...

He pays full tuition.

sure, why not?
most of his salary is for personal expenses, not so?
lol
Plus the SAHM situation
I hope, when all this is done (in 8 yrs), Michelle O can get back to work

I think she will manage just fine. From reading articles about the family, it sounds like she welcomes the opportunity to stay at home and take care of her kids. I am glad to see a successful mom put her family first and be happy about it.

When Jackie Kennedy wanted to have her house painted she told the contractor that she would not pay, but would recommend him to her friends.

You never know. Whatever shool they pick will be so proud, they might even take the kids with no tuition.

I wish I had the opportunity to stay home AND be completely confident of a great job when I decide to go back to work! (not that I begrudge Michelle Obama any of the great opportunities she has done so much to create)

and a spouse with job security for 4 years.

Obama's new job comes with a $400,000 salary, plus given that their income was over $4million last year, I am assuming they have a few coins in the bank. They will manage just fine.

and they won't have to pay for a schoolbus, either!

It would probably violate the law for the Obamas to take free tuition, not that they would.

Will we ever have a first lady (or first gentleman) who does keep her own job outside of the White House? I'd love to see that but, it might not be possible.

I was about to write "not in this country", but then remebered that 1 year ago I thought we would never have a non-white POTUS. We will see.

Lynne Cheney has continued to work. I thought I read that Jill Biden may find another teaching job. If the vice president's spouse can do it, why not the president's?
Anonymous
Lynne is not a good example, she is a self-employed writer and since Cheney became VP she has written only childrens' books. I am sure that Mrs. Obama could do the same while being First Lady. The question is whether she can hold a full time job where is goes to the office/work from home and gets a pay check. Cheri Blair did it so its not impossible.

It will be interesting to see if Jill Biden does take another teaching job.

FWIW, she's also a senior fellow at AEI.
