Signed the marriage certificate and everything.

It is time for our politicians to step forward and say in public what they believe in private.

Good for him but then GWHB was always an old-fashioned country club Republican who wasn't so bad on social issues.

It's still progress.

I miss the Republican party. Back in the 80s, it was actually a party of ideas. I may not have agreed with many of them, but at least it had ideas.

I don't know who these imposters are in Congress now who call themselves Republicans. And, for the life of me, I cannot figure out why they hate Americans so much.

That's kind of how I feel about the Democratic residents of DC. In the 80s, they would have called towns in other states "our hometowns." Now it's "flyover territory" and "Bum Fuck Egypt."

Ok .....

Well RR would be on board, Carter is on board, and while Ford did not comment on marriage he said he was for gay equality "period." so that means the last president truly against would be Richard Nixon.

I'm not so sure Nixon would be against marriage equality if he were alive to see what's happened thus far. He never trusted the religious right or bought into their ideas, and basically used them like the sheep and wallets they are.

Hmmm. I assume since you put the phrases above in quotes, that you can cite actual Democratic residents of DC saying the above? At any time?

I think you mean "sheep with wallets" pp.

Personally, I have always thought that Bush 1 was way more badass than W. He was actually a war hero, he actually got into Ivy league schools, his political reputation was based on his own name, not a legacy.

I have never ever heard this phrase before in my life. Is this a thing?

No, I meant "sheep and wallets." Some of the religious right are just sheep, and some have wallets.

And I somewhat agree with you on Bush 41, who would have to run as a Democrat now. But you know his dad was a Yale graduate and two-term Senator from Connecticut, right? I give you the genuine war hero, but not on the other stuff.

I love it when people complain about stereotyping while they're using another stereotype.

Do you think your same standards apply to anyone from a well-connected family, including those with the last name Kennedy?

mYbe but he made a lot if derogatory comments about homosexuals. Still time changes people.

In any case I think it is interesting to see how forty years of Presidents line up on the issue of gay marriage.
