More canned speeches and pretend Q&A from Maryland County regarding Common Core.

Did the comment and concern get addressed?: "new standards were weak and were preparing students for community colleges instead of elite universities." |
Where is Maryland County?
Also, if you weren't there, how do you know that it was "more canned speeches and pretend Q&A"? |
The Tea Party in FL just convinced the state to abandon its lead role in the common core (they were the lead with the grant). |
Not just in Florida.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-05/common-core-standards-have-tea-party-seeing-u-s-school-takeover.html Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, and the Republican National Committee also don't like the Common Core. Because Communism. |
It's kind of hilarious how something is a totally non political or bipartisan issue until the tea party politicizes it. |
Well, I definitely will not be voting for the Democratic party in Maryland at the next election. After all, didn't O'Malley bring this crap to our state? What about our State Delegates and Senators? Why don't they speak up for public education in our state? What about the elected officials in Montgomery County? Everyone seems to be twiddling their thumbs and watching public education in our state go down the drain. All current MCPS BOE members should also be ousted. Not a single one deserves to be reelected.

OH My Goodness - Maryland is doomed to permanent stupidity -- run for the hills! |
I'm guessing that you probably wouldn't have anyway. (Would you like to move to Texas? Or Alaska? They never adopted the Common Core.) |
Tea Party would have been all for it if one element of the common core was to teach creationism. |
Probably! I think there's also some residual anger because the hegemony of the common core has proved to be a tipping point away from Texas having all the publishing power in education trends. Especially now that Texas's tea party back education board is trying to re-write history texts to obviate references to slavery. Or that the founding fathers were not very religious. |
So is the goal of Maryland common core to get everyone proficient enough to get in to community college? If so, sheesh.
No matter, the intl students can attend the real universities here. They'll be smarter and more hard working anyhow. |
I voted for O'Malley and Ike Leggett in the last election. Couldn't have foreseen the wreck they would do in their tenure. The Democratic Party will not get my vote the next time around. |
Where did you get that from? (It's not actually "Maryland common core". Here is a link to the Common Core: http://www.corestandards.org/ ) |
Well the administration does seem very keen to get minorities scoring better and into at least community college. Hope the curriculum can challenge people more than that!
Everyone else can have their parents supplement them or pay extra for tutors. |
OH Give this a rest -- MOCO has a plot to dumb down the curriculum so that poor, dumb kids of color can rise, while taking down all the affluent, genius white kids headed havahd and yale. Stereotypes Unite! |
