It is not the American population at fault. It is unfortunate that the prosecutors did not do a better job from jury selection to making their case. They kept releasing the same five photos of the "freak offs" thinking that would shock and sway people. I think it desensitized people to the images. Further, they needed to have evidence to counter Cassie's texts about looking forward to some of the freak offs. Even if Cassie was lying to keep the lifestyle, the texts were very harmful to the case. The bottom line is that a man as rich as Diddy can get away with almost anything because people want access to the lifestyle and famous connections. It's the same reason people were willing to put up with insane abuse by Weinstein. |
The vulgar and graphic way the prosecution tried this case probably contributed to the acquittal. I think the jury saw it for what it was, an attempt to embarrass diddy. Also, they basically outed him as bisexual, which may have offended some jurors. This trial came across to many as a witch hunt and prosecution through PR. Even using DV allegations to deny diddy’s bail is a reach. If I were diddy, I’d sue when this was all said and done. |
Did you see the Cassie video? |
People saw that video and they still don’t care. They elected a rapist for president. |
Why do people keep mentioning the Cassie video? Diddy was not on trial for what he did on the video. The video showed that Diddy isn't a good guy, and that he may have history for domestic violence but he wasn't on trial for the video. |
I brought it up because that person said 'DV allegations'. I don't care what he was on trial for, the domestic violence is not alleged. We saw him beating Cassie's ass. Diddy even put out an apology video. There's nothing alleged about it. And the judge considered that fact in his bail decision. |
Right, I’m the original pp they were talking to. The norm for the prostitution charge for which diddy was found guilty is bail while awaiting sentencing and a low security camp like facility if the sentencing ends up requiring time (most get probation). Diddy is currently in a much higher security facility (i.e worse facility) than he should be based on the charge. The judge is keeping him there for 90 days while awaiting sentencing by relying on facts that weren’t relevant to the charge. The dv video is not related to the transportation for prostitution charge. If you’re just looking at the law itself, it’s an abuse of process. |
It didn't have to be. |
Everyone in hip hop has known he’s been gay for 30 years. Why do you think 50 Cent has been calling him gay for 20 years? 50 Cent just called him the gay John Gotti. lol |
He is clearly bisexual. Who cares. He is someone who is abusive and needs help. Usually abusers were abused themselves. He should take this and change his life and be a better father and partner. I don’t think he should have been denied bail though because he was not convicted of crimes people are normally not allowed to be home before sentencing. It is important that celebrities are not treated differently. |
He could get 20 years sentence and that would be almost as good as life as he would be 75 and long forgotten. |
Sure but it was only entered into evidence by the prosecution to support the sex trafficking charges that the jury ultimately rejected. It's like the prosecution’s smear campaign worked. That’s what this entire trial was about. |
Well then, it's unfortunate that the defense acknowledged the violence; that's why the judge said he considered it. |
I'd be shocked if that happens. The prosecution wants the max for him but came up with a recommended sentence of 51 to 63 months (approximately 4 to 5 years). There's a sentencing table that uses a grid to match offense level and criminal history to a recommended sentencing range in months. They also added as many enhancements as they could (these increase the offense level and lead to a longer recommended sentence), and that's the number they came up with. |
That's a better option than lacking the ability to discern fantasy from reality. |
