I wash my 4 yo DS and 5 yo DD 1-2x/week. Esp in the winter since I don't want them walking around with a wet cold head.

I wash my girls' hair about twice a week.

2x a week is what we do. (BTW washing won't do anything to prevent lice.)

We have a theoretical plan of every other day, but it's often 2x a week. And as a pp said, washing doesn't deter lice. I've even heard that lice prefer clean hair! That may or may not be true, but I'm happy to believe it since it works better with our schedule...

same and yes, does nothing to prevent lice
In fact, from what her preschool teacher told me, clean hair actually attracts them.

LOL! Lice prefer clean hair! Now I have heard it all, in my quest to become super-slacker mom of the universe.

I hereby vow to wash my child's hair only once a week, as a lice preventative measure, natch.

1-2x/week, or as needed. I only bathe my 3 year old 2-3 times to week, or as needed. Of course we wash hands and face (and feet in the warm months) daily.

sad . . . but true

"A common misconception is that lice infestation is a result of poor hygienic practices. In fact, it is actually believed that head lice prefer clean hair to dirty hair. However, their number increases due to a lack of combing and bathing."

5-7 times each week. I am black and we usually wash hair once per week but she is biracial. I thought white people washed their hair every day. Thanks for letting me see I was wrong.

7 times a week.

3-4 times a week on average. My son has a short crew cut, so it doesn't get that dirty.

Daily.

I'm Caucasian and wash my hair daily but that didn't start until about age 10 when the hormones kicked in. Before your body produces sebum (I think not before age 7 and then in small amounts), the hair doesn't get greasy. My daughter's skin is sensitive and too much bathing dries it out. Her hair gets washed 1-2x per week.

ALL THIS LIVCE TALK IS MAKING MY HEAD ITCH!!!!
