| I know I'll need another C if I get pregnant again and we definitely do not want 3 so does it make sense to do it while they have me in surgery anyway? Anyone experience this? Did it make the recovery any different? |
|
I did
It made absolutely no difference |
| i did too, but after a vaginal birth. i was a little more crampy afterwards, but not too bad. |
|
I did.
Absolutely no difference. |
| I was going to do it, but my DH said no I'll get a vasectomy. Well here we are 2 years later and still no vasectomy. Wish I had just done the tubal! |
| I was thinking about doing this but thought it would cause problems with my health insurance. For those who did this, did you have issues with insurance denying payments? |
|
I had mine during my c-section. The insurance paid for it, it wasnt an issue.
The only thing I notice is now my periods are VERY heavy. Otherwise, recovery was fine. |
|
I did also with my 4th csection. It was not any different (except my ob asked me again right before he did it if I was sure I wanted to do a tubal).
No recovery difference and I have noticed the difference in my periods too. |
| Had it done after my c-section for #2, didn't make a difference in my recovery or on my insurance. My periods suck now though and I have to wonder if this is why. |
| Not sure where you are located... but it was my understanding that Holy Cross Hospital in MD doesn't do them... not sure how common that is or not. So you may want to make sure it is offered before you go through the decision making process. |
I don't think any Catholic hospital in this area does them, which is what Holy Cross is. This is not to bash Catholic hospitals, or Holy Cross. I delivered both of my kids there. I ran through this scenario with my OB, and asked in advance that if I ended up with an emergency C (for baby#2), could they do the tubal? He said they could not because the current archdiocese rules prohibited it. My husband and I decided to play the odds. Sure enough, emergency C, no tubal (I checked at the time to make sure there hadn't been some itnervening rule change). Three weeks later DH went to see the nice surgeon and we recovered together - although he was much whinier about it.

No Catholic Hospital will do them, it's against the Catholic Religion.
I had a tubal done with my second c-section. It added a little bit of time, but not much. No difference in periods or recovery. |
For the love of God! People here take Catholicism so seriously...UGH. |

OP here-
I'm glad you all told me that. I would be going to Holy Cross so I guess that idea is out but I HATE getting my period so not sure that side effect is good for me. I actually took a preg test today but it was negative (which was good-we were not ready and I'm on the pill-just never got my period)
Besides from that I really did adore Holy Cross when I had my first. |

I'd ask your OB. Don't be so sure HC does not do them.
That said, a friend of mine had tubal after C-section #2 (and infertility!) and is now unexpectedly expecting #3. It does not always work--apparently due to pregnancy-associated swelling. I have heard great things about Mirena. Also vasectomy. It's a quick outpatient procedure. Why do we women have to shoulder all the burden?? |
