Surviving Whole Foods

This hilarious account pretty much sums up why I despise Whole Foods:

My favorite part is the line about how only rich people have dietary restrictions. So true.

If there is a hell, when I die I will be banished to the Whole Foods on Wilson Blvd

I like Whole Foods... am I the only one?

The Huff Post just wasn't funny.

Maybe it might have been in, I dunno, 1993.

Maybe this is due to many lower income families not having the money to spend on appointments with specialists? We are certainly not rich, but WF is the only place I can find some of the things my kid (who has food allergies) can eat. Yes, there are a lot of people who make fun of it, but for some of us it provides a less stressful shopping trip than a regular grocery store.

I did not read the article but wanted to add a good word for Whole Foods. It is certainly not perfect but has raised the quality of grocery store shopping pretty dramatically, and also tends to do well by farmers and the environment. On the whole, definitely worth patronizing and if you are careful, the prices come out fairly reasonable but you do have to be careful. Like many of these stores, you will find good deals and then get killed on shelf staples.

I absolutely love WF - I'm there daily. And I died reading this article. So true and so funny!

Of course it was funny. It was fucking hilarious.

Your 1993 reference is like saying you were country when country was cool.

Whole Foods sucks the root. God-awful grocery store. Hilarious prank on smug white people.

My favorite kid of Internet commentator. "I don't know what you are talking about, and I couldn't be bothered to find out, but I will share my irrelevant opinion with you anyway."

No, I think there are other yoga pants-wearing, crunchy white people who do too.

Why do people hate whole foods?

Love WF. I can actually buy peanut butter that's made from nothing but peanuts -- genius. If you don't like too many peanuts in your peanut butter because high fructose corn syrup just tastes too damn good, then go somewhere else to shop!

I think you're suffering from a sense of humor failure. It was hysterical!!

You know you can make that too, right? For way less than you pay at WF.

Sorta lame. Certainly not hysterical as PPs (same PP?) say. It was amusing at best.

Maybe the author should write a story on Wegmans and how you get suckered into paying too much for the best desserts ever and swear you won't do it again, but keep coming back. Yet some of the common staples such as eggs and cereal are really priced well.

Wegmans is more up and coming than Whole Foods which is so 10 years ago.
