Surviving Whole Foods

Yes. It's amazing that WF has stayed in business with only one customer. You must buy a lot of groceries (could you ask them to bring back the dark chocolate chunks in the maroon bag? TIA!).

I didn't think the article was all that funny, but the "Namaste" callback was well done.

It was certainly more funny than your failed attempt at humor & wit.

Maybe the author should write a story on Wegmans and how you get suckered into paying too much for the best desserts ever and swear you won't do it again, but keep coming back. Yet some of the common staples such as eggs and cereal are really priced well.

Wegmans is more up and coming than Whole Foods which is so 10 years ago.

Yep, Wegmans is the current trendy thing.

What is trendy about Wegmans? Their meat section is aweful.

The woman ate some pretzels without paying because she felt entitled to it? Wow!

Loved the article and love Whole Foods (I'm a Conservative, non-yoga doing SAHM).

"trendy" doesn't mean good. It just means that it is the current "it" thing for people to flock to. All the hype when a Wegmans comes to town! It's a grocery store.

it sounds like they were in the sample case, not that she randomly stole pretzels.

You know you can make that too, right? For way less than you pay at WF.

Have you actually priced out the PB at WF? If you buy a similar product to what you'd buy at Giant - regular PB - then it's very competitive. When you get super exotic (organic, flavored with chocolate, etc) it certainly get pricy, but if you compare similar products it's not priced much more, if at all. In fact, the regular 365 brand organic milk at WF is cheaper than the Horizon brand at Giant. It annoys me when people complain about the prices. Clearly they don't shop at WF.

Agree with you, PP.

Where do you people get organic meats? Costco's organic chicken does not taste as good as WF's. The meat section at Giant's is sad.

I thoroughly dislike that style of humor; it just isn't funny.

And although I buy all our meat at Whole Foods, there is a weird aura around it. I mean the owner is pretty conservative (libertarian? I don't care enough to find out), which I generally dislike, and used to only open stores in neighborhoods with existing co-ops. They had that whole dust up a few months ago when it was made public that floor staff has to speak fluent English.

What style do you find funny? Honest question.

What is wrong with staff speaking fluent English?
