I'm so emotional today, and I got teary eyed reading your post.
So sorry, I know how great dogs are - have 2 and they are a part of our family. Your dog was fortunate to have someone love her - some never know what it's like to have love and shelter. (((Big Hugs))) |

I'm chugging along but the grief is so overwhelming. My house is so empty without her.

| We took a last minute trip out of town the weekend after our dog died. It really helped to get away from the house when the loss was so fresh. |

Oh BIG HUGS TOO! The first weeks after our great guy was gone, we would still see him out of the corner of our eyes. My 17 year old son (who thought he was a tough guy) just burst into tears at the table one night, and we all cried. My SIL had lost her dog the year before and I would sit in the parking lot and cry on the phone to her before work.
My SIL gave me greatest advice though. They waited two (2) months to get another dog, and she said that was TOO LONG. So we went to a PETCO adoption event, and put our broken hearts aside and fell in love again. We still have our great guy's pictures everywhere in the house, but we know he would be happy to see our new girl - he always loved other dogs. |

Hugs, OP. It does hurt less, it just takes time. I still have a picture of my childhood dog on my desk at home. <3
