Will be worse for HG players who will be forced to white. |
isn’t this a 2030 forum? |
Yes, and those are children posting in the wrong forum. |
Isn't it the same for M&D Black players being forced to Red? |
| how seriously do people take these open practices? its not the same as a tryout, but can it be? |
|
From what I'm hearing, I don't expect any of the top teams to make a bunch of moves, maybe 2-3 additions at most.
But if a player impresses at an open practice they could get an informal offer before the tryouts, depending on the team. That happens a lot. By the time tryouts happen, the coaches generally know the makeup of who they want on their teams. |

At the 2030 age group for top teams I don’t understand open (if truly open) practices unless it’s just a club philosophy for some broader purposes. I understand an invite only “open” practice but are these really open to any and all comers? That seems not a good use of anyone’s time if the player (or all who show up) is not close to the caliber needed.
At the much younger levels, when they are in the beginning stages of building, this makes a bit more sense and I know those are places where a total unknown could come in and get an early offer or be on the tryout watch list for a likely offer. |
| The M&D open practices are truly open to anyone. They just ask people to register on their website. However, I am sure there are players who are invited to participate because the team is trying to recruit them. |
100% and may get an offer on the spot with the condition that player just has to come to tryouts. |
Not true at all |
Lol, has happened a few times to families I know. M&D and Heros routinely offers spots to standout players but still make them go to tryouts, why wait when you know they fit in and can help the team? |
Happens all of the time. It's also a good show for others so they can't say they didn't come to tryouts. Also one good look at them with the current team and how they actually play together. |
| I was at the open practice that 30 Black held this week (with my DD) and eavesdropped on multiple conversations amongst current team parents and desperately want-to-be-team parents like myself. There was major drama surrounding that practice. I must say that I was quite surprised that M&D as an organization and 2030 Black as a team would have such (reasonably out in the open) messiness going on for prospectives to hear about and witness. The next few weeks before July tryouts are going to be quite interesting, to say the least 😬🫣 |
There is no drama. The team will add 1 or 2, maybe 3 standout players like most m&d teams do and they will continue to be amazing. Unless girls leave, there isn’t going to be massive turnover on that team. |
Wrong. My sister‘s daughter is on that team and attends SPSG (as does my own DD), which is why my daughter got the invite to attend. I was already well aware of backstage team stuff but to see things play out for myself in real time, and hear that others saw all that I was seeing, was definitely unexpected. Lastly, if you were there as I was, and don’t know what I’m talking about, then you must’ve had your head in the sand for the entire practice. |
