I hope you are right, but Bowser and Northam have been clear they are going to Phase 1 soon and the only thing we hear from Elrich is whining that Hogan should have waited in until MoCo was ready. Every statement and press release just consists of him whining things aren’t fair. His press secretaryreally needs to be let go.

At the end of the day, the close in counties have realized how much revenue they're missing out on, are are deciding to play the "Phased" criteria a little less conservatively.

I agree with this so much but I think Elrich should give in and not necessarily resign. He’s on a high horse and enjoying the power. Time to give in! Whoever runs against him next time has a great chance to win.

Well, NoVA is going to Phase 1 on Friday, so we will see if they really are all coordinating.

Nursing home update, since new data came in today:

74% of MoCo’s deaths in the past week were in nursing homes. Specifically, that’s 42 out of the 57 deaths we added.

So for the past 3 weeks, nursing homes have accounted for:

May 5-12: 90% of the increase
May 13-20: 48% of the increase
May 21-26: 74% of the increase

It’s unreasonable for us to restructure society around nursing homes. They and their employees need to restructure their lives. I have no family members in nursing homes and no contact with residents of them yet I’m asked to restructure my life for them. They need to be making the changes, not everyone else. We don’t know for sure (though we certainly hope) a vaccine will be here later this year. Are we really going to keep this up in perpetuity?

If NoVA goes to Phase 1 on Friday, as expected, and the rest of MD goes to Phase 2 today, and MoCo is still in Phase 0, people are going to go apesht.

However, if the governor is having a press conference at 5p and hasn’t signaled to the county executives anything about the content, that’s a problem. The county execs shouldn’t have to watch the conference to find out and then be unable to respond right after.
