College Counseling at Sidwell - One Year Later

Not everyone will get into the same schools, so choose the ones you most care about, but leave some room on the list for other schools that are a good match. It's not wise to have 50 kids applying to the same 11 schools.

The school has been doing that for years. It was a few bad apples from last year that caused the problems.

Fortunately two of the bad apples in the college office finally were shown the door at the end of last year.

Well, those must have been a few very bad parents to cause people to leave their jobs knowing those parents had moved on. I expect they knew there are more in the pipeline and jumped when they could.

While the school has been living off the Obama glow for over a decade and not addressing problems or adapting to change, other DC privates (particularly GDS) have advanced ahead.

No one cares about GDS.

As demonstrated by GDS having six times as many NMSF this year. Oh, wait...

But it would be true if YOUR kid got in early?

What % would you consider to be a successful ED season?

Gds early results are great this year. Very strong. As PP said, great students at all these places

Sidwell or GDS?

DP, Could be both, but for sure Sidwell. As well as at least 3 to Dartmoth and several to the other Ivys that have announced. There are usually more from Sidwell at Penn and Yale, who haven't released yet. Obviously when most of the grade does an ED, not everyone is going to get in, but the % rate of acceptances is pretty strong thus far.
