What about Sessions, who was responsible for the wrongful termination? Or the president, who was the force behind Sessions?

I’m glad he got his pension. What they did to him was lousy.

Yep. I am too.

Hmmm.....

I wonder what the settlement was.

Right. The obvious settlement would be his pension. What else would it be?

Could be that DOJ won't press criminal charges. Even if he innocent, defending himself would be very expensive.

He will get a pension anyway. He wanted early retirement at 50 which he missed by one day. He'll still be entitled to a regular pension at age 57.

The lawsuit for FOIA was the lawsuit in question - not the wrongful termination.

I think the settlement suggests there is nothing to be "accountable" for.

Yeah, that's how I read it. Both sides are better off just dropping the whole thing and moving on. Trump may not like the idea, but it's probably better than him or his senior staff being called to testify.

Oh that's totally different. McCabe doesn't need FOIA since he can get everything through discovery.

Oh yeah. The Italian Prime Minister today shot that all down.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte of Italy said his country’s intelligence services had informed the American attorney general, William P. Barr, that they played no role in the events leading to the Russia investigation, taking the air out of an unsubstantiated theory promoted by President Trump and his allies in recent weeks....

...Mr. Barr and the Italian general met again on Sept. 27 and were joined by two other senior Italian agents, the heads of internal and external intelligence, Mr. Conte said. “The meeting clarified, after this was verified, that our intelligence is unrelated to the affair.”

“This extraneousness has been acknowledged,” he said, apparently referring to an acknowledgment by the Trump administration.

Mr. Barr also asked Italian authorities to “verify the operations of American agents,” Mr. Conte said. “That is, his question was to verify what the American intelligence did.”

Fox News had a very different take on this when they reported the story this afternoon. Catherine Herridge said her DOJ sources were hinting at a big announcement by the Italians and that whatever Barr and Durham discovered in Italy is likely to be the reason why they have expanded the investigation so much

Yeah, skimmed her reporting today and yesterday and all it did was confirm that the Italian PM said he had met with Barr in August and September. I think the “OMG SOMETHING BIG IS COMING” is Fox spin.

...and Catherine Herridge is leaving Fox News, where she's worked since 1996, for CBS News, saying “I feel privileged to join a team where facts will always matter.”

This is a loss for Fox. She is been there for 23 years and just won a prestigious award. She is an excellent reporter and can always be relied on to tell the truth. Here is a more complete statement:

“Catherine Herridge is a skilled investigative correspondent who has consistently brought depth and originality to her reporting,” said Christopher Isham, Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief. “We are very excited that she will be joining the outstanding team at the Washington Bureau.”

“CBS News has always placed a premium on enterprise journalism and powerful investigations,” said Herridge. “I feel privileged to join a team where facts and storytelling will always matter.”

Throughout her career, Herridge has reported on some of the biggest national and international security stories of our time, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks from New York City, as well as military trials for the architects of the attack at Guantanamo Bay, and more. Herridge has covered news from various hot spots all over the world including Afghanistan, Iraq, Qatar, Israel, Northern Ireland as well as the former Yugoslavia.
'
Prior to joining CBS News, Herridge was the chief intelligence correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC), covering the intelligence community, the Justice Department, and the Department of Homeland Security. While at FOX News, she was also a New York-based correspondent for the newsmagazine "Fox Files," where she led investigations into Medicare fraud, prescription drug abuse and child prostitution. Earlier this year, she interviewed President Trump after the Special Counsel ended its investigation.

Nepoliano just destroyed any argument Trump might have on the impeachment issues.

Catherine Herridge will be able to bring some much needed truth to CBS. Reporting without a biased spin.
She is an excellent reporter.
