Gunney's departure changes things. Some parents are freaked out -- "oh, the uncertainty!" Some realize it'll be for the best in the long run, and they're not going to panic and move their kids somewhere else so some tightly wound coach can scream at them. And if this is the former VYS coach whom we know has been on this board -- do you have no sense of shame, dude? What happened to you is YOUR fault. Own it. |
Well, I dont know anything about any coach. The disturbing thing here? There are too many people to point a finger at. Too many unhappy and untrusting members, past members and apparently staff. Sounds like a very common demoninator. Poor leadership. A club is only as good as its leadership. The redundancy of the rference to the fact that parents are impatient and unwilling to give it time to get better. We heard that after you dismissed the previous tech team, when there was absolutely nothing broken to fix and when Gunny started... now that there has been an abrupt exit from the executive director, ass. TDs and now your new TD all within a year! Are you kidding me? We did hang in there . Long enough. Then when we wanted to leave you held us hostage when you wouldnt return our fees. The new board can not come quickly enough. If there is anyone left willing to take on the trainwreck created over the past year. This is such a shame! Our club was a great place for our kids to come together and enjoy playing with their friends. Sadly this board was given too much control and due to their bullying and incompetence have ruined a great thing. |
19:27 sounds like you would be an expert at running a club. Board elections are coming up - you should run! I am sure you would be great with your passion. Or maybe you are afraid that your name will be dragged through the mud and don't want to - much more fun to slam others on an anonymous web blog than to subject yourself to the same. Or maybe you are too busy professionally coaching at your new club.... |
If you keep misspelling the same words, it's going to be easy for everyone else to realize you're the same person with a grudge. |
And what has been the one constant throughout the downward spiral? The board of directors... Get them out and you will see positive change. |
No ... no, they have not been constant. The BOD turned over in a big way in 2014 and again last year. This year, they had a couple of board members who didn't even finish their term. A couple more aren't running for re-election. Who's left? The VP of House and a couple of at-large members. Geez -- saying "the board has been constant through the downward spiral" is like blaming Curt Onalfo for the current state of D.C. United. We've said it over and over in this thread -- if you want to run, run! The board will have some open seats! |
Good luck... My money and kids are like elephants in the circus, gone. Anyone know how the lawsuits turned out? House soccer is the biggest cash cow here, not travel. |
What lawsuits? (I know I probably shouldn't even ask for fear this is all made up like half the stuff a former VYS board member and a former VYS technical staffer are posting here.) |
I'm not kidding when I say that VYS currently looks a lot worse from the outside than it actually is. I think the opposite was true two years ago. In general, for younger kids who play travel and house, it's a great club right now! I don't know about the rest of it :0) |
How did I do? |
About 50%. You missed on the smaller ones -- I'd consider FPYC mid-sized. And in some cases (CERRITOS), your answer is as good as the one I had in mind. So not bad -- most of your answers are at least plausible. |
I guess this only proves that the "so obvious club reputations" or stereotypes are not as universally shared as you would have us all to believe. |
No, it just proves there's plenty to say about other clubs, even though VYS dominates the conversation on this board. (Or, at least, it DID dominate the discussion until two threads turned into a heated discussion of Arlington's tryouts.) |
The point isn't that other clubs don't have their own problems, the point is that the parents generally are not airing their clubs dirty laundry, and if they do, for the most part they are speaking in general terms and not mentioning the club. Oh, and a discussion about the fairness of tryouts at a club does not compare to the train wreck that this VYS thread is. Keep in mind that in the general NOVA soccer discussion thread, VYS crap dominated that too. Again, keep posting, you all continue to represent your club in the worst possible light, and your attempt to shine a light on other clubs perceived problems didn't quite hit the mark. |
You must have some interest or connection to VYS to keep coming back to this thread to berate people saying negative things. Normal people don't give a fig if someone posts things about a club they aren't involved with.? |
