I don't think so. Russia is weakened, and if anything, it would go back to pre WW2 when European countries were always fighting. France, Germany, UK, and Poland have weapons. They would give Russia a good fight. I do think that Taiwan, SK, and Japan would fall to a China invasion. Where would Australia and NZ fall in the world order. Right now, they align with Europe due to UK's colonization, but the countries are geographically located closest to China's hemisphere.

Should Trump decide to take Greenland, what will happen is this:

- The end of NATO. All US forces - about a 100,000 troops - in Germany, Italy, Poland and elsewhere will have to leave Europe. So the US loses Ramstein, Aviano and all the other major bases in Europe.
- A new alliance will be formed with Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, and possibly Japan. That alliance can handle a very weakened Russia.
- An end to the dominance of the US defense industry. No developed country will ever buy from Lockheed, Northrop, Boeing, General Dynamics and so on. No nation can afford to have their national security be dependent on the whims of the Republican Party. This is already happening. But an invasion of Greenland cements that. European and Korean defense manufacturers are already working 24/7 to catch up to US defense manufacturers. This puts it into hyper-drive.
- Europe will no longer be buying US debt. The US presently has $39 trillion of debt. When you lose your major buyers, that means skyrocketing interest rates to try to get India and Brazil to buy it. Good luck with that.
- The end of the US Dollar as the reserve currency. Already today, the Euro is much more stable. So an alternative exists. The consequences for that move are catastrophic for the US economy. This is real Great Depression stuff. Except it won't technically be a depression. Prices are not going down. It will be more like Zimbabwe and hyper-inflation. But in the end, same result.
- Also, the US signed a treaty with Denmark in 1917. Recognition of Danish authority over Greenland was part of the deal that signed over the Danish Virgin Islands to become the US Virgin Islands. Presumably, a US invasion of Greenland makes the US Virgin Islands Danish again.

Basically, an invasion of Greenland destroys American hegemony and all the benefits that have accrued form that over the past 80 years. The US will be isolated and regarded as a global enemy. And the US economy will be shattered. So even if you don't care about Greenland, you will care about it very quickly about it if it comes to pass.

The most profoundly stupid thing about this is that the US is perfectly welcome to put more US bases in Greenland under NATO auspices. Denmark hasn't said no to anything. It's a small country, but they have been one of our best allies for decades. The US decided to reduce its bases in Greenland some years ago. They are perfectly welcome to bring them back. No one in Denmark has argued otherwise.

Same with mining deals. Most of Greenland exists under sheets of ice. There are no roads or infrastructure. If a mining company can make the numbers work, go for it. Climate change is happening, but it's not happening that fast. It's an incredibly difficult environment. And the financial numbers wont work until basically the year 2500.

The US has a systemic problem. Invading Greenland would be the stupidest thing America has ever done. And now we are at the point where some 80 year old rapidly declining geriatric can destroy America because the billionaire heir to the Estee Lauder fortune, Ronald Lauder - a big friend of Jeffrey Epstein - planted an idea into a senile old man's head.

That's where we're at. It's no wonder no other country in the world has adopted the American system.

A warning has now been put on the record by the U.S. Congress.

If any member of the U.S. military, from generals to lower ranks, participates in the use of force against Greenland without authorisation from Congress, they would be following illegal orders.

That warning was issued by Ted Lieu, citing the constitutional requirement that Congress authorise the use of military force.

Last I heard Congress does not have the title of “Commander in Chief”, so who gives a f*ck what some two bit Congressman says.

You do know that there is life after Trump, right? He's a lame duck, losing influence, and he's rapidly moving toward the end (three years max). And even the Republicans will miraculously rediscover their Congressional oversight responsibilities in 2028. Illegal actions taken now will have consequences beyond Trump's rule.

Also, was Venezuela an illegal operation? 30 or 40 Cubans died in that one. What does Ted Lieu say ? When do the prosecutions start ? Why didn’t military refuse those orders ?

Yes Venezuela was illegal. What does it matter if there are Cubans in Venezuela when you are kidnapping the head of state without war being declared? You really do not understand how far over your skis you are. No one will go AWOL. The officer corps from the JCS down to captain will not “pack your gear and get in the plane”. They will resign. Greenland does not pose a threat to the US and is an ally of the US.

I don’t that people realize how much of the military works simply because of things like logistics and intelligence and purchasing and IT so many other things, and that’s not even including the million or so civilian positions.
