He has (or will soon have) a bi-partisan bill from the Senate that would pass. He won't bring it to the floor because it will pass, though. |
Really. Until McCarthy puts the senate bill up for a vote in the House, he can’t complain about no one helping him |
“MAGA crazies” are the majority of today’s GOP. |
They could do a discharge petition but it will take a couple days and would require moderate House Rs. |
Congress is more polarized today than when past shutdowns occurred. Most GOP congressmen can safely ignore moderates and keep their seats. The Floribama Redneck Riveria district, who have sent Matt Gaetz to Congress multiple times, will view the shutdown as a victory. |
He doesn’t want Democratic votes. They did not include Democrats in drafting the Republican’s idiotic hyper-partisan bill. They drafted it extra crazy to make sure it would fail. McCarthy is an idiot and the fringe caucus are worse idiots. They are all terrible at legislating and can’t even count votes. |
Actually it would take several weeks or longer due to House rules |
100% of the blame falls on Republicans |
Until their flights are delayed or missed because tsa and faa call out sick or they have a Medicare or SSA issue. |
He won’t put it on the floor because his dom ordered him not to. |
Side note. Trump did not write this. It’s too lucid and not earthy enough. |
Trump is so clueless about legislating that had a Republican House and Republican Senate in 2018 and they still could not pass the appropriations bills and shutdown the government until Pelosi took over as Speaker on Jan 2019 and saved their dumb asses. Trump demanded his wall that his own party had not funded and Pelosi just laughed and negotiated a package with the Senate that Trump signed. He still has no clue how anything in the government works. |
They already did help him. They made a deal with him on debt ceiling which included a way out of this. He didn’t keep his word, which drastically lowers the incentives to help him this time. |
