Those dates aren’t holidays. School is in session. Everyone has an opinion and preference and they don’t always match up. |
Thank you for stating the obvious. |
Well, what’s the sense in saying, “Summer is too hot to do anything anyways. I’d much rather have camps or vacation in spring and fall”? Who gives a flying flip? People will go on and on, back and forth. I’d rather be off in the summer when we can go to the pool, so we cancel each other out. It’s moot. |
| Way to early. I could deal with August 28. I also did not vote for this early start but I guess a lot of people did. |
| The pits. Boo to whoever voted for this. 🤦♂️ |
Nobody but the school board voted for this. If you recall, they joined the characteristics of two calendars together right before they voted on it. |

Want a calendar that only has holidays you personally celebrate? That’s called homeschool. |
You didn’t “fix” anything. Are you 12? |
APs are more important than going to “resorts” or kids playing with a ball. Sorry you don’t like it. Shrug. |
Holy crap. Common sense — on DCUM! |
Strange, I have friends in California and they have posted back to school pictures already. So some kids in California are back in school. I suspect we’ll see more pictures from California next week. |
It is not changing. This is the calendar. |
FCPS has 180,000 kids. NVSL pulls from how many counties in the area? So you are honestly arguing that we need the summer break set the way it is so that less then 10% of the County can participate in swim at private swim clubs in the NoVA area? Really? Talk about a privileged, entitled position. |
