Explain ridiculously early 2023/24 start date?

Seriously! It is a sign of mental instability to perseverate incessantly on things that cannot be changed. This happened over three years ago! Three YEARS ago. Let it go!

And, the people with bad judgement are still there! And, the kids are still paying the price of their incompetency.

I was not in Open FCPS but I thought that FCPS should have opened at least hybrid when allowed by the state in August 2020.
I don't know what you think about Davis at Large - I believe she was actually in Open FCPS, but in my opinion hindsight has proven them right. And, by the way - I give a pass for schools closed March - June, but I absolutely do not give a pass for not opening hybrid in August 2020 when allowed to do so by the state.

If you care about equality - that decision set back the lowest of the low probably for the rest of their lives.

Have you actually followed the group from Open FCPS-including Davis-on social media? Its goes went beyond just opening schools. She’ll never get my vote.

Why? Because they wanted to open schools?

Did you read the PP? It goes beyond school closures into right wing propaganda. And don’t get me started on Moms for Liberty. They are awful.

Oh, and this isn't a case of hindsight is 20/20 - we knew this all in August 2020, and I TOLD the school board to their faces at the time. Just the data is showing like I said - I was right all along. It wasn't rocket science - it was literally common sense to anyone who knew one iota about education. ESPECIALLY that it was not developmentally appropriate to have kids in grades K-2 or in special ed online for a year.

Deaths in VA peaked in January 2021. You were willing to force teachers back into classrooms prior to vaccines and as the pandemic was at its worst. Congrats?

A lot of people were working in August 2020. Given the financial incentives for hospitals every death was a COVID death so not buying peak death data being attributable to COVID.

Not the PP but a hospital nurse. You are talking out of your butt. It was bad, it was very bad.

It's so weird how progressives try to label everyone that doesn't agree with them as crazy Republicans. My neighbor is a liberal and was open-FCPS. I'm an independent and thought schools should be closed, but now realize I was wrong. I appreciate FCPA for trying to get info to parents. These are just parent volunteers. They are working to amplify concerns of parents.

Again it started out that way and it became something else entirely.

If you want to see risk to democracy looks like - it is right here - trying to shame people with threats of mental instability. Luckily you can't shame me.

It is the ESSENCE of democracy to talk about what your elected officials have done for you in the past 4 years! Stand tall, my friends!

It’s the addition of religious holidays.

Don’t talk about the mistakes that were made Lofl! It how you lean how to never again make those mistakes. Those people who made those horrible choices should be held accountable. Putting kids education last was horrible.

Those running again should be voted out! That includes McElveen. Not sure about Moon.

I want to see some real questions put to them about academics, SEL, school calendar, "equity," etc.

I know - it's the whole reason there is a HISTORY course in school.

Back to the main topic- would they change the next two years’ calendars if parents calmly spoke up? I just look and they are earlier than this year. August 19th and 18th. The year they go back August 18th they don’t end until June 17th. It’s too much. Plus band/fall sports kids will have to return the last week of July. There’s just no summer anymore.

Day after Labor Day start out by the first week of June. A number of public school systems do it. The great FCPS should be able to do it as well.

Parents did speak up, and their feedback was incorporated into this decision. However, there's a minority of parents who (incorrectly) seem to think they speak for the majority of parents, and who are continuing to complain about things that they are in denial that some larger set of other parents actually want.
