| Any suggestions there for blogs or cookbooks that are geared towards fast meals for working parents. I'd especially love to find recipes I could throw into a crockpot in 15 mins as I head out the door in the morning. I've relied mostly on microwaving frozen and prepared foods and I think I need to graduate to food that is a little healthier for my child, but can still be done quickly. Thanks! |
| OP here, just realized there is an active long forum on this right now. I'll go check it out. But to the extent there aren't specific blogs or cookbooks mentioned, I'd love some suggestions! |

This is a great site: http://www.dinneralovestory.com/
See the link in the top right corner for what to cook tonight. I also really love her cookbook. I use it weekly. |
+1 I love this cookbook and blog too. I also sometimes refer to the "Simply Recipes" blog. |
| I think there's something called The Six O'Clock Scramble--maybe a webiste/cooking show? I saw a friend post a link and thought I'd check it out...then went back to making tacos and pasta... |

| Some of the older Rachel Ray 30 minute meals aren't bad. |
| I do most of my cooking and meal prep on Sundays or on one night of the week, just allow my night to get trashed in order to cook a few meals. For instance tonight my family had grilled salmon and roasted broccoli (easy) while I made a cold roasted beet/kale/bulgar salad that is a great cold salad to just scoop out. I doubled the recipe so it will last a few days. |
| If you use Feedly or another feed reader, you might think about following The Kitchn (http://www.thekitchn.com/). They often have good posts on make-ahead cooking, quick recipes, and other similar topics. There was a good one today on how to make a snack more meal-like (in other words, have hummus and veg with your chips). I find that I'm not interested in everything, but I get a lot of good ideas there, and they often repost recipes and ideas from other blogs, which is handy as well. |
| I have several of Rachel's Ray's 30-minute cookbooks, and often look up her recipes on Food Network. Her 'chicken tortilla soup with chipotle and fire-roasted tomato' and 'quick tagine-style chicken' are reliable favorites at home. |
that cookbook SUCKS! She is talentless. |
