Apparently Eric Holder has been named AG. Good choice. |
Good choice and not even a modicum of surprise about that one! |
Excellent choice. Now someone will be prosecuted for murdering Robert Wone. |
The AG of the United States doesn't get involved in local murder prosecutions! That's the AUSA for DC ( job Holder once held). That post will very likely be filled by someone new as well. |
Marc Ambinder says it will be one of the more interesting confirmation hearings. Is that because of Holder's role in the Marc Rich pardon, or is there something else I'm not aware of? |
Who cares about Marc Rich? Obviously, the controversy is due to the fact that Eric Holder is on the GDS board and has two daughters attending the school. There is nothing, I repeat nothing, more important than the school Sasha and Malia choose to attend. The Senate will need to determine whether Holder will unduly influence the girls' choice. This may even require a special prosecutor. Does anyone know what Patrick Fitzgerald is doing? You can't tell me there are no Sidwell parents who could serve as AG. There is obviously something fishy going on. |
I was wondering when someone would tie it all together! Thread synergy!!! |

Holder's wife delivered my child. Can we be invited too? |
Me too, she was all up in my hoo-ha. DH and I joked tonight that by the transitive property of sex, he's done it with the new AG! |
Holder represents Wone's widow. Once the national media starts looking through his clients, they'll grab that case and go nuts, b/c it's so sensational. Then, prosecutors will have to try someone, otherwise DCPD will look like the incompetent, bumbling fools that they are. |
That's idiotic. I work in criminal justice, and the fact that he represents a murder victim's widow is not controversial at all. Either you have no understanding about how the system works or you're paranoid (or both). |
what's so controversial about a partner at a prestigious dc firm representing the widow of a former firm associate who was, acordign to recent reports, drugged, sexually assaulted, and stabbed to death? i would think that would make him a good guy, really. that case is really sad and only gets worse the more they dig into it. |
I think pp's point was that the Wone case would get media attention, not that Holder did anything wrong. |
Asking around and reading John Nichols this morning, the objections seem to focus on the Rich pardon, the Chiquita case (which actually offends me quite a bit), and, the biggest deal to the left, his statements in relation to the Patriot Act. But of course we all know it is actually the GDS issue. ![]() http://www.thenation.com/blogs/state_of_change/384564 |
