Is it common for companies to have a 10% limit on what your raise can be if you get promoted within the organization?
With every new job I've had, I've gotten way more than a 10% raise. Seems like that policy would force good, dedicated people out the door. My boss definitely makes more than 10% more than I do, and I would certainly be a good candidate for her job if she left, but it doesn't make much financial sense to do it. |
| It is somewhat common to cap raises for internal promotions, but it is dumb. |
| We have a sliding scale, caps out at 16%. Plus bonus improvement, can easily be 20 or 30%. |
