for those of you who purchased one, was a wipe warmer worth it?

My newborn DS hates diaper changing and totally loses it whenever we remove the diaper and clean him up. I'm thinking the wipes are a little too cool for his behind. We try to clean him with warm wash cloths as well but he still cries. Has anyone had success with a wipe warmer, or is his fussiness over changing just something to cope with until he's a little older?

Complete waste of money.

The wipe cools down between the time you take it out of the warmer and the time is makes it to the baby's bottom.

You are better off holding the wipe between your hands for a few seconds prior to wiping your baby.

no! the sponge thing got all brown and burned (I suppose I waited too long to re-wet it). I don't even think my son noticed when I stopped using it (probably after a month or so).

Newborn hate having diapers changed, period. Actually, for us at least, that trend continued for several months. Once they learn to squirm, it gets worse. I wouldn't waste my money.

OKay so I'll be the lone poster on the other side. We were that family who scoffed at all of these goofy luxuries and would NEVER have purchased something like this. But then our son shrieked to high heaven when that cold wipe hit his baby buns in the middle of the night, and seemed to wake him up and make it more difficult to get him back down, so we started taking the wipes to our bathroom and wetting them with warm water before changes. But this wasn't super convenient or easy to do; in fact, it kind of sucked in the middle of the night. I went to babies r us and bought one, my husband raised his eyebrows but used it, and middle of the night diaper changes got much, much calmer and easier.

So, I wouldn't recommend that most parents run out and buy one before baby gets here, but don't rule it out!

I'm also in the wipe warmer camp. I got a hand-me-down from my sister and while initially skeptical, I found it very helpful when my DD was under six months. The warm wipes were particularly helpful at night because it helped keep DD from waking completely up if I had to change her diaper.

Eventually, my kid didn't seem to react to cold wipes any differently than warm ones. But for those first few months, it was great. For the person who complained that the warmer pad got brown, yeah, it will do that if you don't keep it wet. I usually just soaked the pad when putting new wipes in and I was fine. You have to change the pads every three months or so.

Was handy until about 3 months of age, then DS stopped caring.

Someone gave me one and it was a total waste. I gave it away to goodwill.

Waste! We had one, but I realized that DD didn't seem to care in public when we used the regular ones.

Never used one and never would. Babies don't like to get waken up, regardless of a cold or warm wipe.

+1

Bottom wipes were a bit brown and dried out.

+1 Before the baby was born I scoffed at the idea of a wipe warmer but after the baby was a week old I ordered one from Amazon. It made those 3 am diaper changes much more peaceful. I should note that I had a winter baby. Maybe they are not as necessary for summer babies? That said, all babies are different. I would not buy one before the baby is born. I would wait to see if you actually need one. You can always run out and buy one from target after the baby comes.

I bought a second one for downstairs.

Have you washed your lady parts with cold water? IT HURTS!!!!!!!!

The times we don't use them he cries I can see his scrotum shrink poor baby. I still warm it between my hands when we're out and about.

Totally worth it. The sponge lasts 6 months for us since I rinse and rewet every other wipes package.

We don't use AC or heater so our house temperature varies.
