| When is the best time to workout from a calorie burning perspective, or does it not really matter? |
| I imagine that if you work out in the AM then you rev your metabolism for the day. That said, the best time to work out is the time of day you are most likely to be successful and keep it up. |
|
The best time to work out is when you think you'll actually workout. That is, the time of day you're most likely to get some exercise is always the best time.
For some people, exercising in the evening energizes them but makes them unable to sleep as great - for others, it helps calm their bodies down. Vice versa for others in the morning. In my opinion, exercising whenever is effective for YOU is the best time, and this will naturally vary from person to person. For me, I workout in the morning because I like to get it out of the way, and I know I won't get to it otherwise. It clears my mind for the rest of the day, and I don't have to constantly think about it. Plus, I need to exercise on an empty stomach (I know it's not the best for you, but I feel like I have a better workout that way and eat as soon as I'm done) |
This is right. But so is the next poster...whenever you will actually do it is good too. |
| Do it whenever you're able to put the best effort in. It doesn't really matter from a calorie burning perspective. If you put equal effort in, it doesn't make a difference if you do it at 6am or 6pm. And it will increase your metabolism the same. |

| I work out in the morning. It keeps me revved up all day. |

| I workout in the morning but I am a morning person. Like what others have said, the best time to workout is when you will do it consistently. |
| I work out in the late evening (9-10:30pm). The gym isn't crowded and it keeps my metabolism up for a few more hours. I can watch my shows on the treadmill. When I try to exercise in the morning my mind becomes cluttered with all of the things I should be doing. |
Just finished working out and thought of another reason why I like evening workouts; a beer tastes so damn good after a workout. And I don't feel guilty about the calories. It's cool and refreshing. I certainly can't down one after a morning workout! |
