Can you recommend a meat thermometer?

So I have gone through 4 or 5 thermometers that I just picked up over the Home Goods Store over time, but inevitably after a few uses they break (and usually at the most inopportune times). I am ready to invest in a decent one in hopes that it will last. Do you have one you love?

Thermapen - it's $99 but it is awesome. It takes an accurate temp in 3 seconds. I give them as gifts often and people tell me years later they don't know how they lived without it.

Second the thermapen. It's awesome.

Yep, another thermapen convert. I wanted one so badly for a couple of years, then when I started watching America's Test Kitchen and saw that's what they used, I got it. So pissed at myself for all those wasted years and $!

If the Thermapen seems too pricey (it's more than I'd like to spend, thought I recognize it's worth the $$), I interviewed a food safety expert who recommended the Comark thermometer, which costs far less:

Had the Comark one for years...just finally bit the dust the past couple of months!

NP. What about one where the probe stays in while you cook and connects to a monitor on the counter? I bought one at Home Goods about a year ago, but after several pink chickens (despite an alleged temp of well over done), I need something new. I like the remote because I don't have to worry about pulling out the food several times to check it while my kids are running around the kitchen.

Hands down, get one. My sister gave us one a few years ago and we use it almost daily now and give as gifts too.
