| Is this a crazy idea? I'm looking for a durable/affordable surface for my kitchen counters. Just heard of a salvage shop that got a shipment of reclaimed bowling lanes. |
| Ugh sounds so gross. I'd think of all those dirty balls... |
| I would just do butcher block |
Haha you said dirty balls! |
| I think it's a fantastic idea! I love the idea of repurposing (in my opinion, those who don't lack vision). Though I do agree you'd want a thick lacquer to sanitize those dirty balls. Hehhehheh . . . I said it too. |
So many folks with their minds in the gutter! |
Hah, gutter. Punny! |
|
I love it! Years ago I visited a friend whose neighbor did this. He found it at a salvage place and cut it down for a counter.
Reduce, reuse, recycle! |
That's what she said! |
I much prefer Schweddy Balls on my counters
|
Does it look any different from butcher block, or is it essentially the same thing? |
| I would check the finish to make sure that it is food safe before using it in my kitchen. |
| I know someone who did this for their dining room table. Looked both quirky and gorgeous! |
| What a striking idea |
|
Striking. Cute.
My husband's desk at home is reclaimed bowling alley wood. It is gorgeous. As for the "dirty balls" problem, it is not as though they don't refinish the wood first, which includes sanding it down. I say go for it. |
