| For the first time, I have to buy a birthday cake instead of make it (venue rules say no homemade food). It doesnt have to be fancy -- the kids arent exactly gourmands -- but I want it to be as good as possible for a reasonable price. What grocery store or similar type place has the best cakes? |
| Wegmans- chocolate on chocolate cake. It is great and just as good as homemade. Avoid Costco cakes, they are the worst. |
| Wegmans. I like chocolate cake with the white icing. Even my DH who doesn't love cake really likes Wegmans cakes. |

Publix in Florida. A long drive but worth it.
|
| Wegmans, wegmans, wegmans!!! |
| OP here. I think Wegmas is only in VA, which isnt very convenient. Any others? |
| Safeway and Harris Teeter are also good. Whole Foods is awful. |
| There's a Wegmans in Prince George County. Where are you located? |
| I've bought both Safeway and Harris Teeter. No complaints about either. |
| Shoppers!! |
|
Safeway FUDGE cake (not chocolate.
Safeway vanilla cake/vanilla icing. Giant vanilla/vanilla. |
| Costco chocolate--yum! |
| OP, it sounds like you're having a party at a gymboree-type place. Let the activity be the focus of the party.Don't over-think this one. Find the grocery store that is most convenient to you and pick up a cake. Be done. |
Ummm Costco is delish??? Olive Costco cakes, and I have 10 gourmet bakeries around me in DC. |
| I love I mean. |
