So instead of heading to DS' soccer game right now, I have to get out the steam cleaner and try to get the dog piss out of my bedroom carpet from my inlaws' dogs. Something must be wrong with these animals because the only time I've seen urine this color is when I've been on those drugs they give you when you have a UTI. I don't even want to go downstairs and see what the damage is there.
Oh, and it's 10:00 and FIL's wife is still sleeping it off--got shit faced on wine last night and completely embarrassed herself in front of our friends. |
| The problem is with your in-laws, not their dogs. |
This. Next time they can stay at a hotel. |
Where is DH? Or your inlaws to do this? Are neither of them embarassed by their dogs behavior? (Not even mentioning their own behavior, of course). I agree, I would tell DH that either he cleans up after the dogs, they don't bring them, or next time they all stay at a lovely, pet friiendly hotel where everyone will be more comfortable. And the dogs can enjoy the back yard. |
| yes to what PP wrote. Your DH cleans up the mess from his parents' dog. I wouldn't touch that with a 10-ft pole. |

Totally the ILs' job unless you do not trust them to be thorough.
No more dog guests! |
| I would have taken DS to soccer and let DH clean up the mess and deal with his father & stepmom. Totally sucks, sorry OP. |
| Yep, DH's job to deal with the dog mess and inlaws. I'd also not let the dogs stay for the rest of the visit. Instead, I'd offer to foot the bill for a stay at one of the nicer pet boarding places and explain that you're concerned about the pet potty issue and prefer the pets stay elsewhere. Not sure where you are located, but we've used Olde Towne Pet Resort in Akexandria and Planet Pet in DC and have been happy with the services. |
+1. OP, if your parents' dog did that, would your DH have spent Saturday morning cleaning the mess? unless he has two broken arms, you should have let him clean up the mess and deal with his relatives and their dogs |
| my mother's dog puked charcoal on our cream carpet. she tried her best to clean it up but stain is still there. just one of the many, many reasons we should have never allowed the dogs to stay with us (we don't anymore) We don't own a dog, why would we want your dog to stay with us and shit and pee and puke and bark and shed hair everywhere. so wish I had a backbone to tell her "no" from the start. |
