MCPS cover up. Business as usual. MCPS has known about indictments for months.

MCPS has not known about the charges for months, since he was charged last Thursday.

MCPS has known for months, as has the public in general, that the teacher was charged on March 1 (after being arrested on February 27) with possession of child pornography.

So has DCUM: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/292204.page Cover-up there, too?

MCPS doesn't have police power just yet. Removing him from school is pretty much the limit of their jurisdiction.

Official MCPS response?

Warrant was issued May 2, 2013.
MCPS has known.
MCPS has covered up.
Press Release came from Police Dept, not MCPS.

Warrant for what?

And how do you know this?

And if the warrant was issued on May 2, 2013, but the teacher was not charged until August 8, 2013, why are you questioning MCPS's conduct, and not, for example, the police department's?

According to the Washington Post "Joynes, who is in custody at the Baltimore County Detention Center, has not returned to teaching since his February arrest. "

MCPS kept it quiet

A different warrant for what?

He was charged in March. He was charged in August. He hasn't been back in the classroom. It's all over the media. What, specifically, is MCPS keeping quiet?

I am have a toddler that I am planning on sending to MCPS when she is of age. Is it possible to request all female teachers? This happens way too frequently. Of course, crazy things could happen with female teachers as well but chances are 1 million times less.
