You are better off homeschooling. You may get a female teacher but remember, there may still be a male gym teacher, male music teacher, male janitor, male cafeteria worker, male principal, etc. Can't shelter your child from everything and everyone.

My daughter will have her first male teacher this year, and she's in grade 4. So the chances of a male teacher at the elementary level are slim.

This has nothing to do with the President and I am not "fucking nuts", thanks though! It is a known fact that child molesters often go into professions where they work closely and can prey on young children (teachers, doctors, priests, Jerry Sandusky, etc). Growing up, there was a pediatrician in my town who was preying on young girls, and various inappropriate male teachers. Maybe it is something in my town, but other people I know seem to have had some questionable experiences at some point in their life to. 9/10 men in these fields are probably 100% innocent and well intentioned, it is the 1/10 that I would rather avoid working closely with my child. You cannot deny the facts that this kind of stuff is in the news all of time, and most often, we never know these things happen. This guy was doing this for 13 years without anyone having an inkling of what he was doing.

Ignore her. As a HS teacher, we see the damage done to kids from a very young age on. That mother will only ruin her kid. And no - you don't want that kid in your class.

I had one parent who was so obnoxious to all her child's teachers that when she requested meeting conversation with a teacher, an administrator had to be present. And even then, they set parameters on how often she could request conferences.

To the scared PP: My son LOVES make teachers and really connects with them. He was lucky to have the same guy for two years in preschool. Sadly, there are nine in his elementary school. And I lived having male teachers as a kid, too. There is often a very different energy and dynamic.

I would hope if my son chose to be a teacher, he wouldn't face such paranoia about his sex

. There are many ways to teach your kid to be safe. Be proactive like that instead of condemning men just because they are men. "Protecting the Gift" is a great book if you are interested.
