Would you leave your DD with this man?

Anonymous
My DH, 8 yo DD, sister and her tween/teen boys are currently renting a mountain cabin with my parents. Yesterday we were all going down to the lake for a swim when I remembered I forgot something in the cabin. I returned to the cabin to find my father in a chair right in front of the open door 'pleasuring himself.' We didn't make eye contact but it's obvious he knows what I saw.

Besides the fact that I'm grossed out, my Mom and my father want my DD to come visit her alone for a weekend in September. My mother is an amazing mother and caretaker and totally trust her and my dad has good intensions but is selfish and not-great judgement. I don't think he would harm her just may make her uncomfortable.

Should I tell my mom so she can understand my reluctance or just let it lay and not allow my DD to stay with them without me there until she's older (like 16)? Or just let it go and move on? I just think how awful it would be for my DD or nephews to have returned to the cabin and not me.

So because your father masturbates you're implying that he's a pedophile?

He lacks judgement and common sense. I'd never allow my kids alone with him.

Yup tell your mom. An adult should know that mssturbation belongs behind closed doors.

Semi-public masturbation=poor choices, and poor sexual boundaries=won't be alone with my child.

OP here. No no no - I just think he does stupid, selfish things. What if one of his grandchildren came back. Go to the bathroom and lock up!

Is this the only incident that is making you concerned, or have there been others?

I think you should follow your instincts.

You catch your dad mastrubating in front of an open door, and neither of you says anything? WTF?

Gross! Your dad and a grandpa, yuck, yuck, yuck. I guess you had to poke your mental eye out.

I find it really strange that he HAD to do it right then and there. Is this the first time this happened? Was your father overly open with his sexuality growing up?
You know him better than any of us do, but going on that incident I would not leave DD with him.

Uck!

The situation itself wouldn't make me fearful for my DD to stay with her grandfather, however....I feel like you have some other incidences that may make you uncomfortable.

Always follow your instincts.

Could this be related to dementia?
