how reak out of weight plateau

Anonymous
I'm 5 foot 7 inches and have been at a weight platuea of 130 for a few months now -- at one point my weight was down to 124 earlier this spring after I got sick with the flu, but it popped right back up to 130.... its really frustrating since no matter how much i exercsie/eat/don't exercise -- that's where it stays..... About ten years ago, pre-kids, I weighed 115 pounds and it gives me a model-y figure and face..... I'd be happy with being somewher ein the middle like 120 pounds or so.... How do I take it off? I know that starving myself doesnt work, I stay at 130....same as if I am pigging out... I am fine with just accepting myself as I am if there is nothing else I can do to tick the scale back down...Has anyone else experienced this sort of weight stubborn-ness and been able to break out of it? If so, how?

What kind of excersize do you do? Cardio? Weight train? Yoga?

120 at 5'7'' seems like it would be very low

Agreed. 130 at 5'7" is healthy and even on the lean side, unless you have 0% muscle mass.

Maybe that's the weight you're supposed to be.

I'm 5'6" and I'm trying to get down to 145. Depends on your bone structure and age.

I think you are at your ideal weight and your body is resisting for a reason.

Now, I'm 5'7 and my weight plateau is at 148, so I am going back to what got my down to 130 years ago...South Beach.

I can commiserate. I'm 5'9 and stuck at 132. Before everyone jumps all over me saying that is thin enough, I have a very small frame so the extra 7 pounds are sitting like an innertube around my middle. If the weight had gone to my hips or (A cup) chest, I would be totally fine with it! Instead I look like a potato on stilts. OP, if you find something that works, post back!

Weight training and high intensity cardio circuits. You need to build calorie building muscle and spike your heart rate. Good luck!

I'm only a month out, so I don't want to jinx myself, but I finally got down from 125 to 119. I had been stuck there post baby for about 6 years.

I had been jogging about 15 miles/wk, and I started doing weights (new rules of lifting for women)

I went on a modified "cleanse" diet for a week. No calorie restriction, just reasonable portions. But no animal products, artifical sweetener, sucrose, caffeine, or gluten. Fats were olive and coconut oil. Basically green smoothie or grain cereal for breakfast. Veggie salad with beans, nuts, and oil/vinegar for lunch. And some sort of big veggie stew for dinner. If I needed a snack, I had some fruit with almond butter or a handful of nuts.

I lost 4 pounds the first week, and then went to about 90% eating this way, 10% adding all those foods back in (minus the artifical sweeteners and caffeine)

The other two pounds have come off slowly in the 3 weeks since.

Like I said, only a month out, but I feel great and its the best I've done in 6 years!

I would also make sure you are switching things up. If you do the same exercises, same type of running, etc. your body tends to plateau.

People have different frames and carry weight differently, I'm 5'5' & weigh 130lbs but wear a size 2, my sister sis the same height weighs less but wears a size 6.
Anyway, you might need to add my muscle to your frame instead of losing weight. Get you bf measured & try adding weight training if your not incorporating it already.
