A friend is looking to move to the DC metro area. They have three elementary school aged children. Which areas have good schools? I know that the Montgomery County has good schools but that's pretty much all I know (I don't have kids yet and I wasn't raised in the area) They don't want an area that is too "urban. Basically they are looking for an area with good schools and nice big houses -their budget is 1.2 million max. |
Poolesville, Darnstown, Olney, perhaps Potomac, but 1.2 mil will probably not get her the house she wants there. |
Bethesda, certain areas of Rockville. |
Bethesda, Potomac (Bells Mill etc) |
OP here again - thanks. Basically they are looking for something that is 4500 - 5000 square feet. Also what about Gaithersburg and Germantown? (Just mentioning them because I have friends who grew up there) |
4,500 SF and not urban means way out. Would echo Darnestown, Germantown and Laytonsville as possible areas. |
Potomac/Poolsville. |
A huge house like that will require being farther out, which may equal lesser schools. |
Try Fairfax instead:

Potomac. |
Darnestown for sure. |
Good lord. Farther out? Probably, given their budget. "Lesser schools"? No. |
you made two threads for this?? |
If looking to be less urban and farther out, how about Howard County? |
great schools - number 1 system property taxes will kill you . . . esp in the Western parts |
