Small size 1 diapers for long skinny baby

Anonymous
My 10 lb. two month old is too big for newborn diapers but every size one diaper we've tried on her has been huge and leaks. So far we've been through Huggies snug and dry, Huggies little snugglers, pampers swaddlers, and Up and up. For the newborn size, pampers swaddlers and up and up both fit her great but both of those size ones are huge! The Huggies little snugglers appear to be the smallest but they do not provide any sort of seal around the legs and leak both pee and poop.

Any suggestions for this in between stage? I'm getting tired of cleaning poo off everything

Have you considered cloth?

No.

I have the same issue when I use disposables, so we mostly keep our 10 pounder in cloth. It's a big investment for what's probably a temporary problem, though, if you're not interested in cloth diapers generally. I have no idea how well this would work, but you could buy a few cloth diaper covers to go over the disposables for extra protection. It would be cheaper than going all cloth.

What makes you say he's too big for newborn? We used newborn swaddlers for longer than the recommended weight limit because we had leaks when we moved up to size 1. Once DS started blowing out of newborn we made the switch and the 1s were a much better fit,

Maybe try a newborn size diaper in a different brand? Like maybe he needs a big newborn size, not a small size one? Worth a shot maybe. Silly skinny babies!

She was having blowouts out of the back.

We had good luck with the costco brand size 1 diapers.

I have a fatty and size one Luvs would not fit around her waist.
Maybe they would be good for a skinny baby.

+1
Luvs is the only brand that fits my daughter snugly. We've had terrible leaks with Huggies, but with Luvs, only huge blowout poops leak. As a matter of fact, last night I used a Huggies on her that someone gave me at my baby shower because I was just too tired to open a new case of Luvs. Big mistake. At 3 am there was pee all over the place! Good times...

I have a very long skinny baby (she is 6.5 months and still in size 1). We were in NB diapers forever. It will be weird, but try a NB diaper with a size 1 over it. That is what got us through the in-between stage.
