We had the best luck with pampers swadlers for our skinny baby (he was 6lb 13oz at birth), but for several weeks we had to double diaper to contain blowouts. Newborn with a size one over it, not the greenest or cheapest but it kept poo out of the crib & carseat.

Thank you, I will try Luvs this week and see what she thinks about one diaper over another for overnights.
The biggest newborns we tried were seventh generation, but she and I both didn't like them very much - they were big and bulky and she cried the instant she wet them. |
My DD is super skinny and after trying many many kinds of diapers, found Luvs works best.
Have you tried Huggies Naturals? Those run smaller than regular Huggies.
Get a wool soaker like this http://www.abbyslane.com/Sustainablebabyish-Wool-Covers_p_701.html and wear it over the disposable diaper. It will soak up any leaks and works great overnight.
