12 year old DD is an enormous fan and I'm debating whether to take her. I'm not worried about the cursing, etc. that's in some of his songs but I'm just wondering about the overall atmosphere.
We took DS to the Drake concert last year and survived so I'm sure this won't be as bad

U let your kid listen to music laced with profanity?
Cute! Real Cute! |
| I'm a fan, too. I have very fond memories of our parents taking us to concerts (where they were probably the only parents). I say take her! |
Sure. She's old enough to know the difference between hearing it and saying it -- she's a middle schooler, not a small child. |
| I think there will be a lot of drinking and pot smoking. |
Different strokes for different folks. Personally, if you let your kid listen to it -- than that is ostensibly telling your kid it is ok to say it as long as you are getting paid for it. She just cannot say it until she is an adult. To me it is glamorizing it -- no go on my house. |
This kinda of thing seriously depends on the venue... it is silly of you to assume that is happening in droves at say, the Verizon center
|
|
OP here. There's not going to be a lot of drinking and pot smoking at the Verizon Center, people!
|
|
You go Tipper! |
hahaha...hey like I said...different strokes... Not a big fan of letting my kid listen to profanity in music...I'll be Tipper on that..I can take that |
Are kidding me? People pregame and continue to drink at the Center. When I was in college tons of people brought pit into venues. Taking your 12 yo to a Macklemore concert is inappropriate. Be the parent, not her BFF. |
When you say she is an "enormous fan" does that mean she knows every song he has ever performed? Or does she just know his one hit wonder song? |
Not the OP- But I would like to point out that the frequency in which people are able to smoke pot at concerts has dropped significantly since you cannot smoke cigarettes at any venue... I would also like to add that my dad took me to a concert when I was young, I will always remember that experience- and so do my friends who saw the Rolling Stones and Madonna tours as children. These experiences were priceless to me, and I wasn't harmed in anyway. Some people are more uptight than others, but I say have fun and make these lifelong remembered experiences with your children while you can!!! |
yea -- my dad took me to my first concert it was the Jacksons but they didn't curse |
