Assuming duties of fired coworker. What should I get out of this (if anything)?

Anonymous
It's possible that I will be asked to take on some of the duties of a recently fired coworker. This person's position was a step up from my position. While I will, of course, be enthusiastic and willing to take on these new duties (in addition to my current ones), I'm wondering if it will be a good idea to:

-Negotiate a title change that encompasses my current and that employee's job duties. The goal would be to have a title "higher up" than my current one (Ex: from manager to director).
-Ask for more money. And if so, how much more money? I'm thinking realistically, we're only about $10k apart in pay scale, so what should I aim for (if anything)?

TIA for any advice.

Yes. Do both of those things.

Are you permanently taking on the responsibilities or just temporarily until they replace him? You should find out before you go and ask.
