| I want to see how my in boundry school performed this year. thank! |
I ask because friends at Maury seem to have been informed about Maury's improvements-- so some people are getting info. Maybe only good news gets leaked.
|
| There have been at least two threads on this in the past week. Check those. |

Mayor's press conference is tomorrow!
|
| OP here-- thanks for the update about the press conference! |
| Schools have been made aware of the scores. When they become public is a different story. |
| Tomorrow at 10 am - I think OSSE posts the results at the same time, no? |
| The suspense is killing me. I know my kids did great, but I want to know how their schools did and how my IB school did. |

Probably not a huge difference. Low FARMs schools do well. Some charters will do well. The days of miraculous gains or surprise slumps are probably over. Our WoTP principal already told us scores will likely stagnate and "achievement gap" is same or worse, need time to implement common core, blah blah blah.
I'm more concerned about how we're supposed to compare DCPS and Charter schools beyond test scores. Is a DCPS Reward school better or the same than a charter Tier 1 school? Still can't believe my now 8 year old did so much testing this year. Seems like such a waste of time. Still not sure child is in the right school for their needs.

| I expect scores to tank. We, teachers, were not prepared by DCPS for Common Core Math. We were initially told that the test would reflect the old standards, although we were teaching common core standards. The new information tickled down in February. We were teaching old and new standards simultaneously. Preparing for months with material no longer deemed relevant. Also, many DCPS teachers had NO math materials - no text or pertinent resources. We had to find needles in haystacks all year. Common core materials had not been developed on a widespread basis. Extremely difficult finding adequate resources. DCPS put the cart before the horse. My crystal ball predicts that the overall results will be VERY disappointing. Be prepared for the SPIN. |
I agree that math is a potential trouble spot. It floored me that they moved to common core standards but kept Everyday Math. Beyond ridiculous given the difference in basic philosophies between the two. |
