2030 Girls Lacrosse

YJMA is totally different now than it was when it first came to the DMV. They don’t care one bit about all this capital/blc drama.

Can someone create a Baltimore lacrosse forum so we can talk intelligently about the top programs without all this DC drama and fighting?

If your kids wants to recruited and you haven’t gone north to Maryland teams your best bet is capital. Period. Plenty of data on this. But do your own homework

1. M&D Black – The team to beat right now. They look like the clear title favorite.

2. Skywalkers – Undefeated with three wins, though still waiting on a true test.

3. MDU East – Proved they still belong with a tight one-goal loss to M&D Black.

4. BLC Blue – Offensive firepower is evident, but most of the damage has come against mid-tier teams.

5. Coppermine – A pivotal Week 3 ahead with matchups against M&D and BLC that will define their standing and season.

6. Heros Green – Solid so far, with a major test looming against MDU East next week.

7. M&D Red – Two respectable losses against quality opponents; better than their record suggests.

8. YJ DMV – Positioned to build momentum, with a strong chance to add two more wins next week.

9. MDU West – Trending upward and could realistically finish with six wins.

10. M&D DC – Clearly a step above the lower-tier teams, but still looking to break into the next level.

This is a delusional list.

Skywalkers is a middle-of-the-pack team all day. YJ DMV would smoke M&D Red. M&D DC is bad. HG is too low. MDU West is not good.

There are 2-3 teams who are elite. 2-3 teams who are very good and could snag the elite teams on the right day. Everyone else is cannon fodder.

How was that smoking of Red by YJ? Must have missed it

YJ is falling apart. Majority of the team is trying out for Capital or leaving for other teams. They had a good run.

This is the unfortunate truth. The 44 best players in the DC area will play on Capital. M&D DC and Stars will be a shell of their former selves. YJ DMV will not exist next year.

Except for the ones who already play at other clubs. Handful of them already settled.

Sucks for YJ, I thought they looked like they were on the come up.

YJ is not falling apart. We are signing up for the June YJ tryouts and asked for a call with the coaches. They are very very organized and knowledgeable. Practices will be held at Landon School next year, possibly some at Stone Ridge and Georgetown Prep. Their HS recruiting program is strong. They can get girls into any top showcase, but their philosophy is don’t get burnt out on them. They aren’t needed for recruitment. Recruitment is an Individual thing and isn’t based on the teams overall ranking. They don’t care about rankings. Everyone will get recruited. But they said next year’s roster may look very different from the current roster.

Just some advice from a parent who has been through the process a couple of times. These soundbites you have been offered by the club are a bit misleading.

"Their HS recruiting program is strong." YJ's flagship team on Long Island's high school recruiting program is strong. Their satellite clubs, including YJMA and YJ South don't get the same results. I will note that they do get girls in to some top showcases from satellite programs

"Recruitment is an Individual thing and isn’t based on the teams overall ranking. They don’t care about rankings. Everyone will get recruited." If your club doesn't have high enough ranking, you won't be in the high brackets come recruiting year, and you won't have the same number of coaches watching. Just math. But yes, recruiting is individual. Only a few clubs, like M&D Black, Hero's Green, and Capital Blue, have had players getting recruited top to bottom the past several years.

Gotta admit, everything said here is accurate.

Mnd Black, HG, and Capital Blue get recruited because they are able to acquire the players that schools want. That’s where the elite players go.

There are other elite teams but every year is different. Find the best team.

Friend’s child was on Capital. He said Cap was almost no help re recruiting. The family had to do the work.

Your friend must be an exception. I’ve heard very different stories from other parents. It’s unlikely they aren’t offering assistance given historical results.

Given that YJ is likely to drop past 75th next season after they lose players, how much help can the club give a satellite team when they are ranked so low?

Keep in mind there’s a secondary recruiting coordinator for capital. KJ she gets her girls recruited and the rest have to work with the capital coordinator. So if you don’t go to sssa you may need outside help
