It's unclear what is really going on. He was wrong but he wasn't filing it and probably didn't post it online. They should not allow people to rent from the same dock within a few hours nor the same bike.

Well put. I've been participating to get closure, too. This is about online mobs and monetizing strife like racism.

Unfortunately, as long as it pays to stir up online mobs, we'll always have somebody like Monique. Even if Monique gets her pants sued off, somebody will pop up in her place to sell their incendiary stories for sweet, sweet money. Even when she's short on facts and hurting the family she's pretending to help.

My hope is that many regular folks have learned from this to be more critical of incendiary viral videos. That regular folks started to realize that next time they see a video of black guy being labeled a thug, or of a white woman being labeled a Karen, they'll stop and wait for the rest of the story. If the rest of us don't learn from this and other incidents to evaluate what we're being fed by the Moniques of the world, you're right, the future isn't bright.

The concerning part is that could happen to any of us.

In theory, none of those factors mattered except the PA has had her life ruined after being accused of being a racist and assaulting the young man. It was handled horribly and the filming/posting of it was in poor taste but the video has now gone viral, the PA lost her job and has had death threats.

If this didn't go viral and she lose her job and received death threats due to her race, yes, but she lost her job for being a racist and received threats. So, yes, it's no relevant.

I mean it’s a cash grab and anyone with a tiny amount of discernment and common sense can see that. And people still donated because … well, who really knows why. But yes, definitely not going toward legal bills or medical expenses. Maybe the social media hucksters will try to pressure him/the family into “sharing” some of it.

His gofundme exists only because the PA has one. The idea that the pregnant healthcare worker who got wrongly labeled a white supremacist online was getting free money but the 17 year old who shoved her off a bike was not upset people. God knows why.
