A company that almost hired me a year ago, but didn't due to an acquisition (they absorbed another firm so did not fill the position), has re-approached me about a job. The management team is very well respected in our field, low key, easy to get along with. The position isn't exactly what I am looking for, but has lots of opportunity and flexibility. I'm a lot more senior than they need now, but they are growing and want to invest in someone seasoned. They basically told me to name my price.
Meanwhile, in current job about 10 months - took after being out of work a few months. My position in was supposed to be senior management (which has turned out to be functionally not true) with no increase in pay. Company is changing health care for 2014 that will end up costing me more. People are nice but the leadership is really insular, it is crazy busy, and I feel like there's little chance for advancement.
I'm in my early 50's and have never left a job after less than a year, but am mulling over this new opportunity and wonder about the downsides. Any advice?
