ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

Not to take away from a great weekend for the girls 2010 team but Delco was definitely never ranked #3 at any point of their existence. They might have been #13 going into Jeff cup, check your stat Stat Dad.

This will be the Apex for the 2010 Union team unfortunately. The sour grapes are already being squeezed all over today’s edition of the never ending thread of what is a splintered team😢

What makes you think this is the apex? Most of what has been written here has been nonsense.

I’m not the poster you’re replying to, but I assume they are saying winning top flight at Jeff Cup will be the best this team ever does.

If they can retain their best players and add Brave’s best players, I strongly disagree.

I would agree if the if wasn’t the reality come this summer

Any offers/rejections/callbacks received for 2009B since the Sunday ID?

How about we just let this go? The new merger is what it is, and let's hope for excellent opportunities for our kids to develop at Fairfax Union, or anywhere else in the region that is your kid's best fit. Hope for good things for all players.

Notes from my DS. They are rostering 22. And coach will invite another 11 to “practice” to see if he missed anyone.

Nion did a good job in their lower level brackets at Jeff Cup. Daddy will be proud of you for winning a game.

Yes, they won the 3rd division which is kind of like saying they finished in 17th place because there were 16 teams seeded above them in higher brackets.

It was 2nd flight (Elite). The colors jJust break up large groups of teams. They were in elite black, and both Richmond and VDA (teams below them in the MA table and who they beat head to head) were in elite orange.

So, yes, they were 2nd flight, below CSA, Union, and Bethesda (all of whom I believe would have beaten Brave), but it was still a strong showing and result (the dud against NCF in a meaningless group game not withstanding).

They outscored their opponents 15-4 in 4 games.

Let's break down the statistics for both Brave and Union since that is what this thread is all about.

Brave 2010's are currently ranked 79th in the Nation per the Soccer Rankings app.

They beat...
Pittsburg Riverhounds (8-1W)...Ranked 386th
STA GA (3-0W)...Ranked 215th
NCF (1-2L)...Ranked 136th
NY SC (3-1W)....Ranked 174th

Good weekend? I'd say it was an OK showing. The Pittsburg 8-1 win is where they got the bulk of their GD for the weekend. Otherwise they would have outscored their opponents 7-3, a little more reasonable. I'd say Pittsburg did not belong in this flight.

VA Union 2010 is currently ranked #15 and their results...

CFC (4-3W)...Ranked 76th
Eclipse (1-0W)...Ranked 27th
FC Delco (1-1D)...Ranked 3rd
Charlotte SA (3-0W)...Ranked 8th

Much closer results here but overall would say the numbers show that VA Union had the better weekend defeating teams ranked much higher than themselves while Brave was punching below their weight all weekend.

Also I should add that these are current rankings, which were no doubt affected by their results this weekend.

And no...not a dad on either of these specific teams, just someone that likes the numbers.

Love it, and can’t disagree with anything in this post. As a data guy, I think the numbers often tell the story. No question Union had the better weekend, but nice to see both teams succeed.

Seems like the combination of strong players from both teams will be great!

Thanks VYS Dad!

Have those invites gone out? Will kids get an email to let them know they didn’t make the cut?

Context. Each player development is different.

Agree with some above. Focus on your kid, and make the best of of this merger. These year won’t come back, let your boy or girl enjoy the beautiful game, build memories together and support them, no matter what. Be proud of them, and love them.

The reason why ECNL made Union merge with Brave was to make way for FCV's ECNL admitance next year.

Doubtful. And if so, I can't wait to see the reaction and fallout from NVA

New FCV coaches probably can’t spell ECNL.
