Why do you care what I decide to do to my son's penis when he is born?

What are you? Some kind of pervert? Mind your own business.

I don't care about it especially deeply. I care about it in the way that I care when I see a parent spanking a kid. I think, poor kid, and move on.

Agree with PP. I think its cruel and unnecessary, and I probably think a little less of you privately. But I have bigger things to worry about.

How would you even know unless you tried to look in my son's diaper?

Maybe because it seems you can't help yourself from blathering on about it.

There is a current of religious intolerance in the whole discussion here (other thread, but it a
Ways is that was on similar threads). I don't feel I have to apologize for being a proud Jewish woman, looking forward to raising a Jewish son. But I don't plan on having many people check out my sons dick. It's so odd to me that people are seeing all these other kids penises! And I'm not even prude. Just, why would hu be checking out my son?

You'd be surprised. I don't particularly care about this issue. But I know what about half of my friends have done. In between babysitting for friends, changing friends' kids diapers, or helping various little ones use the potty, its not like you have to be a weirdo to notice.

Let's all refrain from using the phrase "my son's dick" - ew.

I don't care whether or not you have your child circumcised. I think there are valid medical and religious arguments on both sides, and that both are valid choices. I happened to choose not to.

However, I do think we, as a society, have a responsibility to protect all of our children, so of course there are things that you could do (and that sadly are not uncommon) to your child, including to his penis, that I would care about deeply and report you if I knew.

People who are vehemently anti-circ view it as a form of child abuse, and so they care in the same way that I would care if I thought you were doing something abusive.

Because it's my daughter who's going to have sex with him 16 or so years from now.

Uh, I'm Jewish and find this hilariously naive. There is a major ceremony at which parents proudly have their sons penises mutilated. Many people are usually invited. There's gifts and food. The status of your sons penis is not a secret! You invited people to have an opinion on it!

Ew.

Why is this a gross idea?

You have boundary issues. I feel bad for your daughter.

Hopefully not 16. Maybe 18. But, is it really going to matter to Larla anyway if she is getting down at 16?
