Now I have a craving...

Don't have a recipe for you, but where do you get yours locally? Any restaurant recs?

I never have had it in a restaurant, I'm afraid I would be disappointed. I might make it for tomorrow, but it is such a massive project!

I have used the following recipe, and it is good - though I leave out the peas (I am not a fan). she has another version on the blog.

definitely add the sour cream (it says optional in the recipe).

Don't have any tips but I'd love to meet some Iranian moms. I have a 10 month old. Any tips?

Try searching meetup.com, e.g.,:
http://www.meetup.com/Tysons-Corner-Farsi-Speaking-Parents/

I would also ask at schools/cultural groups, e.g.,:
http://persianculturalcenter.net/

There is also a meetup/playgroup forum on DCUM. Try searching/posting there.

Ooh, me! My husband says mine is better than his mom's, which as all Iranians (and those married to Iranians) know, is the highest imaginable praise.

Finely diced dill pickles (not sweet)
LeSeuer brand fancy baby peas
Plenty of lemon juice, and just enough salt
Canned cubed potatoes (I know, I know-- but trust me. It's the ONLY thing I used canned potatoes for)
Chicken (which I sometimes use and sometimes don't) is shredded, not diced
Eggs, of course
Not too much mayo

OP here. Gald to see this revived!

Ha! I got my recipe from my DH's maman bozorg and no matter what hers is better than mine

Yours is a bit like mine...However NO CHICKEN SOMETIMES???! heretic!

Interesting on the potatoes...never thought of that.

I do also add plain whole milk yogurt to mine, thins out the mayo and gives it a tangy taste.
