I love Addies on Rockville Pike across from White Flint Mall. (Not new though.)

If you're African-American, you'll probably enjoy Cheesecake Factory or Benihana.

I've heard not so great reviews about Range.

Really like Addies but it doesn't quite feel like a nice evening out - probably due to its location.
We want to be able to walk around after dinner - hence Bethesda.

Don't want to drive into DC - although we're close, its too far for the other couple.

Sorry, "cool vibe" and "Bethesda" don't really go together.

Mi Cocina in CC is sorta new and has a little "vibe." Don't know if it's cool or not. The Tex-Mex is OK, nothing to write home to Texas about.
Some people also find Sushi Ko vibey. Not me. But YMMV. (Again, not new.) We like Indique Heights (again, not new).

I think if you really want a nice dinner at a new place with a cool vibe, you're going to have to go to DC. There's millions of them.
It's not quite new anymore, but I highly recommend Mintwood Place.

Medium Rare isn't far from CC. Isn't new but mid priced casual vibe. There is a great wine bar above Whole Foods in Friendship heights for a drink after dinner.

Range was really good the one time I went. I didn't really like the fact that it is in a mall, though.

Range is delicious, but certainly not mid-price. Jaleo? Assaggii?

Grapeseed, Wild Tomato, Persimmon, Black Salt, Et Voila,

I like these too: Persimmon, Black Salt, Et Voila

Of those, only Persimmon is in Bethesda/CC.

It's been there forever, but was just renovated, and is said to be quite different (better). May be your best Bethesda bet.

Tom S. also likes Food Wine & Co. Haven't been, so can't say.

Right now I think Food Wine and Co is probably your best bet.

How about going to Silver Spring? Jackie's or that one that's named after its address (8407?) would qualify.
Not so new and with a "classic" vibe, but very good, is Ray's the Classics.

All better than anything in Bethesda right now, IMO. (Though I do like Mon Ami Gabi--but that's not what you're looking for.)
