BRYC talk

Of course McLean does this. This is the only way their older girls teams ever get competitive: they feast off players that BRYC and other clubs develop who teach them how to play off the ball so that McLean doesn’t have to. It’s been going on for 25-30 years.

Parents will go where they feel is best for their kid, Soccer is expensive and if I am paying 5-6k I want the best training possible.
If that’s with FCV/Mclean/VDA/Arlington you make it work. You sign a 1 year agreement with a club every year.

Ain’t that the trufth

Some of the best players followed to VDA and have not been replaced with players of the same caliber. So it’s hard to see how things are getting so much better but we will see what happens come fall.

Followed or recruited. Let’s open that bag!

Clubs do not own players, they can leave in the off season if they want!

You are right VDA coach. But it is against ECNL rules for coaches to contact parents or players during the year to persuade them to come to their club.

Youre either a mad BRYC’er and a mad Mckean’er.

If you want to open the bag, first open the FCV bag

FCV is not ECNL, but thank you for opening the bag.

VDAs TD calling players parents telling them not to bother having their DD come to try outs because there will be no room with the new talent.

The only rule in place is tryout after May 1st, every ecnl club in the country recruits, we have 5+ kids join our McLean team every year

Anything before May 1st is recruiting

I can only speak for the U15 Boys team which looks much improved. We picked up some very good players, and several subs that did not contribute much left the team, which will only result in wins! GO BYRC!!

the u13 girls don't look good. they had a bunch of girls leave and the replacements are not equal. Plus they had to move up some u12s to fill out the roster.

ECNL or Bridge? Did they keep the second-team ECNL team or are they down to just one?

Bernie, what did you do to the teams!
I wish one day Bernie coaches ECNL team, we will see what truly he is capable.

Huh? So he gets kicked off the boys side, makes a mess of the younger girls ages and now you want to give him ECNL team?

Yeah! Since my kids are in different ECNL clubs now.

Do they? This has not been my experience. My experience has been that
- rec coaches sometimes recruit, although this is rare
- travel teams welcome kids/parents who initiate contact, and will actively follow up once the family has initiated contact with them
- travel teams do not initiate unsolicited contact.

Do others have different experiences? Clubs approaching you out of the blue to try to persuade you to move your kid?

Travel coaches scout rec/all stars from time to time.
