At least you recognize that you aren't altruistic! If you're selfish, own it! And yes, I haven't registered myself yet in DC because I'm not eligible. It's not woke, it's just "following directions and waiting my turn," so basic kindergarten stuff. |
My friend fits your profile and managed to get an appointment just fine-try harder! |
You're an idiot. DC isn't "withholding" vaccine from people in wealthy Wards, they're keeping vaccine appointments equal among Wards because people with more free time and resources in wealthier Wards were getting MORE than their fair share of vaccines. You're the absolute pinnacle of the old saying: "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." |

The DC plan seems quite reasonable. And it seems to be slowly working. I just wish that DC wouldn't keep so many vaccines in storage for second doses, but rather use a rolling system. I know they were screwed over when the Trump admin made up their data about having 2nd doses, but things seem different now. They really could put another 20K-30K shots in arms this week if they opened things up. |
As best as I can tell the privilege my neighbors have for carrying the tax burden of the city include overcrowded schools, rampant car thefts, and the withholding life saving vaccines. What privileges do you think they have? |
Hold on, what did Trump do to DC? He made up data about second doses? I despised Trump but the thing that I remember was the Trump administration telling the Bowser administration not to retain vaccines for second doses because that was already in the federal government calculation. The Fed was basically saying, "use what we give you, when we give it to you, because we have already done the math based on your population." That is why West Virginia and Connecticut were rewarded so quickly with extra doses. DC was offered the same deal but thought they knew better. I am all about smashing Trump for whatever, but I am curious as to what he did in this particular case. |
The constant complaining about the supply has become a crutch for Bowser's bad performance here. She could get more shots into more arms today, but for some reason will not. There are thousands of shots just sitting in storage. |

Clearly not the privilege of reading comprehension or common sense or else you'd have realized THAT NOBODY IS WITHHOLDING LIFESAVING VACCINES AS CLEARLY STATED IN THE EXACT POST YOU REPLIED TO! Unless you're seriously implying that you deserve greater access to vaccines because you have more money, which I wouldn't put past the average DCUM poster but doesn't make it any less sickening. |
Well technically they are witholding vaccine from some zip codes to better saturate other zip codes. Which is lesser access. Sounds like PP wants same, not greater access. |
The metric is shots given. The PP is fighting the measures designed to get shots into lesser-served wards. Don't try to put lipstick on this pig. |

There is no reason for a city of 717K people in a condensed area should have 32% of its allocated (shots in hand) vaccines sitting around. There is only one reason why the vaccines have not been distributed. It is idiotic.
I am tired of the need to hand feed folks to get a vaccine. Get a vaccine or don't - but enough with wasting government resources. |
Meh. I'm happy my second dose is waiting for me. It's not like they won't be given out. |
Also, I'm not sure where you are getting the 32 percent number from. The CDC numbers for "shots distributed to DC" includes the VA and other federal agencies, but DC doesn't control those shots in any way. |
