Grandpa from Cruise ship tragedy charged

And here it is again:

See this video on the same ship. If you look toward the end, you see how far the railing is from the window and exactly what it looks like out the window and down.

In this press conference, the attorney admits that grandpa put the girl up on the railing (implying that she was standing on the railing) and that the girl went to bang on what she thought was the glass and then she was gone.

I posted this a few pages back, but it looks like some people need a refresher.

I can't read through all 22 pages but my vote is that the grandfather is completely and totally negligent. Yes, toddlers fall out of windows all the time -- that's why you don't ever, ever, ever leave them alone in a room with only a screen in front of an open window. Otherwise you are NEGLIGENT.

I get that shit happens but come on, take responsibility for what you do. I bet there is more to the story than this because it makes no sense that every one of them thinks putting the girl on the ledge near an open window makes sense. It makes no sense. I would never do that.

"But Anello and Chloe’s family have always maintained the girl’s death was an accident and not a crime."

- Yes, it was an accident. The first ones claiming that a crime was committed (by the cruise line), is the family itself.

"“They’re in the beginning stages of a lengthy process that is grief. They were trying to put their lives back together, and you throw this into the mix and it puts them back to square one.”"

- Placing false blame on the cruise line is what's delaying the family from grieving. I'm sure what they're going through is awfully painful, but refusing to accept Grandpa's culpability will only delay and pour salt on the wound. The sooner they accept the truth, the better for them. An absurd lawsuit helps no one, including the parents.

The lawyer sounds like an absolute sleezebag.

If my father did that to one of my kids, I would be heartbroken for the rest of my life. My family would be destroyed. I guess blaming the cruise ship is easier than facing that reality -- unless there is something more sinister going on than that.

From what I understand, he is not the biological grandfather.

Anyone have an update on this particular case??

I cannot find anything current online about this.

The grandfather had a court hearing on Wednesday. He is being charge with negligent homicide. His next court date is December 17 when a trial date will be set.

Yes he is the mother's stepfather.

The family lost a lot of sympathy by blaming the cruise company. The grandfather first told the police he lost his grip on his step-granddaughter but now it's blaming the company. I understand wanting to blame someone else at such a hue emotional loss but this one they should just move out of the spotlight and recover as a family.

For some reason, the Daily Mail has viewed the video. Grandpa went to the only open window before picking up the girl, and holding her up - before they both leaned forward. 3-4 seconds later, the little girl plummeted.

A tragic accident, but the child's death clearly resulted from grandpa's deliberate decisions. The girl didn't fall out by herself.

Also, how on earth can one not see that the window was open? Even a blind person could feel the air 11 stories up.

I am willing to bet he is in the early stages of mental decline, and his family has not yet noticed. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense.

There is no way he chose the ONLY open window by accident.

But I still think their blame of the cruise line contributed to the charges. His blame and lack of self awareness. And the parents are 100% in denial.

I hate to say this, but has anyone considered that it may not have been an accident or negligence?
