Eliot-Hines Middle School

Rapunzel, you are sniffing the hair-spray. DCPS will not fire a principal for under enrollment. If what I say on a blog have whites shaking in their boots, then get to stepping.

The current and former principals of EH are formidable DCPS employees.

Okay, middle-clASSer we will do things your way. I will just stand over here and hum the McDonalds' jingle. Loving it!!

I have heard many positive thoughts about this school from families who live on The Hill.

I did hear that when Eliot and Hine merged a few years ago there were some serious turf issues at the school. Reports are that the last principal did a good job smoothing that out. But I wonder how .much the attitude shown on this thread might be leftover from past gripes.

Hearing postive thoughts is a promising aspect. But money talks and bullshit walks. In laymen terms the middle-classer talk about EH but they will take their BS and walk past it just as fast.

Also, no one is saying NOT TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO EH. That's what you would like for it to be said but no one is going to fall for your throwing of the rock and hiding your hand.

Talk with the principal, I chuckle. As I was fortunate to sit on the panel to select this principal. Again the association and the affiliation is disproven as DCPS reached out to me as a parent and a community member with a proven track record of being pro-active and supportive of DCPS.

It takes all kinds to make this world go around and if a conversation you want then it will be a conversation you shall receive. So go run tell dat, sweetie.

11:00,

Trash and thing are relative in my world, too!!! Shake it like a white girl, sweetie.

I got a number for you to dial how about 1-800-get over it.

So, you are saying that everybody pretty in your world is trashy? That's so, so sad. Under those circumstances, you can't blame a girl for wanting to be white.

Sleeping beauty, go back to bed. You make an AA want to become a bully. As your admittance of being a white girl explains a lot, of you're a blonde white girl. Then I rest my case.

Anyone go to the International Baccalureate Middle Years Program information meeting at the Atlas Theater last night? What are your take sways? How was the crowd? How do families already enrolled at EliotnHine, Jefferson and Eastern think things are going?

Quite honestly, that team last night (all three principals and their IB coordinators) convinced me that IB is the way to go. After what they explained, seeing a "Critical Thinking" course wedged into a curriculum somewhere as an afterthought won't do it for me. Critical thinking (and all the other pieces to the IB puzzle) has to be part of everything they do, down to the extracurricular activities they pursue. It may not be the right fit for students who need right or wrong answers to do well or who experience trouble in team-work and break-out sessions; but it totally fits my bill for a rigorous education that connects seamlessly with what college education (or even the workplace) will ask of them soon enough.

Unfortunately, I live nowhere near Jefferson MS, but anyone living nearby or familiar with its past glory, is well advised to give that academy some serious consideration, certainly if you feel good leadership counts for something.

Eastern is on the right track to be great with their IB program. The only turn off is that it is NOT diverse enough so the success rate is yet to be determine.

OP, can you explain what you mean? Not sure I am following your line of thinking. Thanks!
