Go try to drive a large vehicle around the barely plowed one lane road in South Arlington and tell me you think that’s safe.

Tell me what’s different Tuesday. get out there to start digging your own road out for Tuesday. Because that is apparently the actual plan.

From what I hear, they’ve been driving the buses around to find problems spots and will be working with the county / contractors tomorrow to help clear those. Tomorrow it will be above freezing and more able to do that.

Then communicate that and they’ve had days to do that.

OK negative Nelly, they’ve been doing that since last Friday.

Really? They’ve been actively driving buses around for 3 days and plowing trouble spots. Is this under the cover of darkness? Because I was out and about this entire weekend and saw zero and people on here aren’t reporting seeing it.

+1.
I thought they'd be out plowing more around me in S Arlington, but I haven't seen that at all. Roads and sidewalks are a disaster. Can't imagine it'll be any better by Tuesday to be honest.

Im sure we are out of money and salt for snow plowing

This is the community effort. Maybe instead of sitting on this website all day on a Sunday you could’ve gotten your lazy ass out there.

They found some this afternoon and are going to spend it all between now and Tuesday AM.

Sorry this does not feel like a good faith effort.

Sure I’ll go out with my plow and take care of these streets that are down to one lane.

Next I’ll head to the miles of sidewalk homeowners and landlords couldn’t be bothered to clear. If only we knew all it took was an email from the superintendent telling us to clear our sidewalks! Now all these people who don’t receive these emails will be on it. Problem solved.

Loudon does not have the same neighborhood dynamics as Arlington, get real.

Meaning what? Walkers? Poor kids? I assure you they have plenty of both.

There are much fewer areas that are high density narrow streets.

This. The conditions have been the same for several days.

It was an epic weather event. Show some grace.

+1

Our street is on two bus paths and is a sheet of ice on a steep hill.

I feel this. But also I’d feel more grace if it wasn’t so illogical and the communication was more honest and timely.

I’d be fine with we didn’t have the staff to work on this over the weekend and tomorrow we’re going back to work. We know conditions won’t be much different Tuesday so take tomorrow to figure out a plan.

Or say they’re going to send out some altered bus stops.

Anything from planet earth.

Practical question. They were allowing sports practices and after school activities last week. Will they tomorrow too?

As fas as I knew, activities were allowed Friday-Saturday, and neither one of those days were scheduled school days for students. I think when APS announces they are closed, as they did for tomorrow, practices and activities are typically cancelled.

Probably. Most kids will show up, but for those who can’t make it — it’s not a big deal. Unlike school, where those who have most difficulty getting in are disadvantaged in the first place.
